About the Author
My name is Emily Liau, and my previous research experience spans computational biology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and biomedical ethics across academia and industry.
As an undergraduate, I observed that most bioinformatics curricula are highly compartmentalized, with computer science, biology, and statistics courses taught in isolation and lacking practical application. My objective is to provide a more integrated, experiential approach to bioinformatics education by equipping individuals with the foundational knowledge, technical proficiencies, and investigative abilities necessary for a meaningful and impactful career in scientific research.
Through Bioinformatics Research Collective, I share what I’ve learned about the field through didactic primers, coding tutorials, and research summaries. My vision is to cultivate a global community of scientists and foster an inclusive environment where knowledge and collaboration flourish. Thanks for reading!
